A well-established, locally owned HVAC contractor on Colorado's Western Slope is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead HVAC new construction work in the Telluride area. This is a confidential search; company details will be shared with qualified candidates after an initial conversation.
This is a leadership role with real ownership: you'll run new construction projects day to day, build strong relationships with builders and general contractors, and help grow this side of the business.
What You'll Do
Manage HVAC projects from bid through closeout on high-end custom residential and light commercial new construction in the Telluride area
Review plans, prepare estimates and takeoffs, and help win new work with builders, general contractors, architects, and mechanical engineers
Schedule and lead install crews, coordinating with other trades and the general contractor to keep jobs on track
Order and track equipment and materials, managing lead times and deliveries for mountain job sites
Manage project budgets, job costing, change orders, and progress billing
Pull permits, schedule inspections, and make sure all work meets code and manufacturer requirements
Visit job sites regularly to check quality, safety, and progress
Serve as the main point of contact for builders and homeowners from start to finish
Track jobs in field service software and keep documentation, purchase orders, and billing accurate and up to date
Recruit, train, and develop installers and lead techs as the team grows
What We're Looking For
5+ years of HVAC construction experience, including at least 2 years managing projects or crews
Strong knowledge of residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including forced air, hydronic, radiant, heat pumps, and ventilation (ERV/HRV); snowmelt experience is a plus
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings and produce accurate estimates
Experience with job costing, budgets, and change orders
Comfortable working with high-end builders and clients who expect a premium finished product
Organized, dependable, and a clear communicator
Experience with ServiceTitan or similar field service software preferred
Willing to travel daily between Montrose and Telluride-area job sites in all seasons
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
NATE certification, EPA 608, or a Colorado mechanical license is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
$35–$40/hour, based on experience, plus performance bonus.
Full-time, hourly
Monday–Friday, with flexibility as project schedules require
