Snipps Heating & Air Conditioning has been serving the Western Slope since 1996 with honest, reliable HVAC service. Based in Montrose, our NATE-certified technicians serve homes and businesses throughout Montrose, Delta, Ouray, San Miguel, Gunnison, San Juan, Hinsdale, and surrounding counties.
We’re a small, close-knit team, and we’re looking for an experienced HVAC Service Technician who can work independently, diagnose a wide range of residential comfort systems, and deliver quality service from start to finish.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems throughout the Western Slope.
This is a senior, largely independent service role for someone who can manage a full service route, troubleshoot a variety of makes and models, and represent Snipps professionally in a customer’s home.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with boilers and hydronic heating systems, along with furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ductless mini-splits.
What You’ll Do
Diagnose and repair: Troubleshoot and repair residential furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ductless mini-split systems while working efficiently toward a first-time-fix standard.
Service boilers and hydronic systems: Diagnose and repair gas and hydronic boiler systems, including circulator pumps, zone valves, aquastats, and control wiring.
Perform maintenance: Complete seasonal tune-ups and routine maintenance visits to identify potential issues before they become breakdowns.
Work with customers: Explain system issues, repair recommendations, and available options in plain language while representing Snipps professionally in the customer’s home.
Complete documentation: Maintain accurate work orders, service notes, parts records, and equipment information in the field.
Follow safety and codes: Follow manufacturer specifications and applicable Colorado safety and building codes on every job.
Maintain your vehicle: Keep the service vehicle clean, organized, and properly stocked with tools, parts, and equipment.
Support the team: Cross-cover installs or assist other technicians as needed.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of hands-on HVAC service and repair experience, with residential experience preferred
Required hands-on experience servicing and repairing boiler and hydronic heating systems
EPA Section 608 certification required
NATE certification and/or manufacturer-specific training preferred, but not required
Working knowledge of gas furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ductless mini-splits
Strong basic electrical troubleshooting skills
Ability to read wiring diagrams, understand system controls, and troubleshoot independently
Valid Colorado driver’s license and driving record that meets Snipps’ commercial auto insurance requirements
Comfortable traveling throughout the Western Slope’s rural service area
Comfortable with drive time between job sites, higher elevations, and varied mountain weather
Professional communication skills and the ability to work respectfully in customers’ homes
Dependable, organized, safety-minded, and able to work independently
Physical Requirements
Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of tools, parts, and equipment; occasionally maneuver heavier equipment with a partner.
Work on ladders and ascend or descend into attics, crawlspaces, and rooftops as needed.
Work in tight spaces and various positions for extended periods, including standing, kneeling, bending, and reaching.
Comfortable working outdoors in Colorado’s seasonal heat, cold, and altitude conditions.
Able to safely perform service work throughout the Western Slope’s varied terrain and elevations.
Compensation & Schedule
$30–$36/hour, depending on experience and certifications.
Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Monday–Friday, standard service hours
Rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergency calls
