The Big Task
You will operating heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other construction/plumbing-
related equipment. This role plays a critical part in supporting installation, repair, and site preparation work across
residential and commercial job sites.
Key Sub Tasks
• Safely operate excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and other heavy equipment for plumbing and utility
projects.
• Perform trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation work.
• Assist plumbing crews with equipment placement, material handling, and site coordination.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
• Follow all safety protocols, job specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites.
• Communicate effectively with crew leaders, project managers, and other team members to ensure efficient
workflow.
• Support field operations with general labor tasks when equipment is not in use.
Desired Skills and Experience
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, utilities, or plumbing
environments.
• Proficiency in operating excavators and skid steers required.
• Strong understanding of excavation safety, trenching requirements, and underground utility awareness.
• Ability to read site plans and follow layout instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.Equipment Operator Job Description
• Valid NYS driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and job site environments. Experience working with plumbing
or underground utility contractors.
• Familiarity with job site safety practices and OSHA compliance.
• Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment troubleshooting a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to climb, bend, squat, and work on uneven terrain.
• Able to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
