Union Chiller HVAC Service Technician

Overview
Confidential is seeking an experienced Union Chiller HVAC Service Technician—or an experienced chiller technician willing to join Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 9. The company can sponsor the right candidate into the union and currently supports approximately 50 chiller-service contracts.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of commercial HVAC mechanical equipment and chiller control systems under the direction of the field technical team lead.
- Diagnose and resolve building inefficiencies and service-related issues.
- Deliver a high level of customer service and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Follow customer requirements, safety standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist with quotes and estimates when appropriate.
- Keep customers informed about services performed, outstanding issues, and recommended enhancements, upgrades, or repairs.
Qualifications
- Current union card with a plumbers and pipefitters local, or willingness to join Local 9.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of chiller installation, maintenance, or service experience.
- At least 5 years of general commercial HVAC maintenance, installation, and repair experience.
- Experience with air- and water-cooled chillers and multiple compressor types.
- Experience with centrifugal chillers and tear-downs, steam turbines, and high-tonnage equipment.
- Absorber experience is a plus.
- EPA Universal certification; OEM certifications preferred.
- Clear motor-vehicle record and ability to pass drug and background screening.
Compensation and benefits
- $45-$65 per hour.
- Full-time, on-the-road position based around Green Brook Township, NJ.
