HVAC Service Technician

About the Role

Guin Service LLC is a family-owned company serving Birmingham and the surrounding communities. We are looking for an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join our team and provide dependable, high-quality service to residential and light commercial customers.

This is a service and repair position focused on diagnosing issues, completing repairs, maintaining systems, and delivering an excellent customer experience. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, knowledgeable, and committed to doing the job right.

Office Location: Irondale, AL — serving Birmingham and the surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems

• Respond to scheduled service calls and identify system issues

• Inspect electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and system components

• Trace problems and determine the appropriate repair

• Complete repairs accurately and efficiently

• Test systems to confirm proper operation

• Explain findings and repair options clearly to customers

• Provide honest recommendations without using high-pressure sales tactics

• Identify opportunities for system improvements, replacements, and energy efficiency

• Maintain accurate service notes and documentation

• Keep the company vehicle, tools, and jobsite clean and organized

• Follow safety procedures, applicable codes, and manufacturer specifications

• Participate in the on-call rotation

• Work collaboratively with the team while maintaining professionalism and respect

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience servicing and repairing residential HVAC systems

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant systems

• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical information

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Professional, clean-cut, and presentable appearance

• Strong organization and time-management skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to continue learning

• Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, outdoors, and other physically demanding environments

• Willingness to participate in the on-call rotation

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–4 years of HVAC service and repair experience required

• Approximately 10 years of HVAC experience preferred

• EPA Universal certification

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
