    About this role

    Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Lead Installer to execute, oversee, and complete high-quality residential HVAC installations for our Advantage customers. This role is responsible for leading the installation process from start to finish, guiding an installation helper or apprentice, ensuring all work meets code and safety standards, and delivering a phenomenal final customer experience. You are the craftsman who delivers on the promises made by our sales team—ensuring systems run perfectly from day one and leaving the customer with complete confidence in their investment.

    Key Responsibilities

    System Installation & Commissioning

    • Lead the installation of residential HVAC systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, AC systems, and ductless units.

    • Perform high-quality ductwork modifications, gas piping, and low/line voltage electrical wiring.

    • Ensure all installations meet local building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications.

    • Perform comprehensive system start-ups, testing airflow, refrigerant charge, and sequence of operation to ensure peak performance.

    Customer Communication & Onboarding

    • Conduct pre-installation walkthroughs to confirm job scope and set expectations with the homeowner.

    • Provide a thorough post-installation orientation, educating customers on thermostat operation, filter changes, and basic system care.

    • Build trust by maintaining a clean, respectful, and professional environment in the customer’s home.

    • Address any immediate customer questions or concerns before leaving the job site.

    Team Leadership & Site Management

    • Direct, mentor, and work efficiently alongside an installation helper or apprentice.

    • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean job site, ensuring property is protected (using drop cloths, shoe covers, etc.).

    • Identify opportunities for additional value during the install, such as recommending missing IAQ products, surge protectors, or duct modifications.

    • Take ownership of the installation timeline, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently without sacrificing quality.

    Documentation & System Use

    • Complete detailed job notes, including model and serial numbers, commissioning reports, and any deviations from the original scope.

    • Upload clear photos of the completed installation, ductwork, and clearances to ensure all information is accurately recorded in ServiceTitan.

    • Track time, materials used, and job status in real time.

    • Maintain clean, organized digital records for every installation.

    Warehouse & Team Coordination

    • Communicate with dispatch and the warehouse regarding job progress, missing parts, or potential delays.

    • Ensure the installation vehicle is properly stocked, organized, and maintained.

    • Coordinate seamlessly with the sales team if the scope of work changes or unexpected site challenges arise.

    • Assist in coordinating final city or county inspections to ensure quick and successful sign-offs.

    Qualifications

    • Strong HVAC installation experience (typically 3+ years) leading residential changeouts and retrofits.

    • EPA Certification (Universal preferred).

    • Solid understanding of electrical systems, airflow dynamics, gas piping, and refrigeration principles.

    • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

    • Experience with ServiceTitan or similar CRM preferred.

    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

    What Success Looks Like

    • High installation quality with zero failed inspections and minimal callbacks.

    • Efficient installation times that consistently meet or beat budgeted labor hours.

    • Exceptional customer satisfaction scores and positive reviews upon job completion.

    • Clean, complete job documentation and accurate equipment registration data.

    • Successful development and mentoring of installation helpers.

    Compensation & Structure

    • Hourly through a training period, normally 60 days, then performance pay.
